Upcoming Bollywood Political Stars

It is interesting to see how so many Bollywood actors before every Lok Sabha elections enter politics to contest for elections. Reasons obviously differ but each one of them surely grab eyeballs and make headlines, mostly not for their work but for their creatively carved publicity stunts. Here’s our take on Bollywood celebrities and their possible reasons to join politics.

Rakhi Sawant – We were not surprised when Rakhi announced her decision to join the Rashtriya Aam Party (RAP). It had been a while since Rakhi was missing on the block and so was her drama. Moreover, she hardly has any offers from Bollywood or from the tellyland and in such hard times it only made sense for her to take a chance in politics. We are not sure if she will win or lose, but her everyday drama and press announcements add the much needed masala and twist in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The controversial babe is contesting elections from Mumbai North-West.

Gul Panag – Undoubtedly Gul is one of the most bindaas babes of the glamour world, however, she hasn’t been too active in the showbiz industry. With this, politics seemed to be a natural transition for the Hello actor. Especially with the kind of socially impacting roles she has done in the past. The Dor actor is contesting elections from Chandigarh for Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Kamaal R Khan – Famously known as KRK, he is possibly the superstar of Twitter. The controversial Khan does not spare politicians or celebs on the microblogging site. His infamous tweets have grabbed eyeballs of not just common people but celebs as well. When Parineeti Chopra appeared on Koffee with Karan along with Alia Bhatt, the Shuddh Desi Romance actor appreciated the messages that KRK tweets for her. Since the small time Bhojpuri actor has very little work KRK’s obvious next option to grab eyeballs was joining politics. But this dream of the notorious Khan was quashed as he left Samajwadi party citing differences between him and the party leader Abu Azmi’s son Farhan Azmi. While withdrawing his application KRK said,“I cannot get along with Abu Azmi’s son Farhan. He did not like my comments on Twitter but I cannot dance to other people’s tunes.”

Bollywood Stars Politics Gossips

Jaspinder Narula – Though she has resigned from her party and will not be contesting elections for this term, we wonder what made her opt for politics in the first place. Known for her folk songs, the veteran singer had made her strong mark in the 90’s and was a hot favourite with many music directors. Her songs like Pyaar to hona hi tha and Dama dum mast kalandar has been chartbusters. However, with the younger brigade now calling the shots, there is hardly any space left the sufi singer. Was her decision to join politics a publicity stunt to stay in the media limelight like the Deshdrohi actor?

Nagma – She is hot favourite in Bhojpuri films, however even despite repeated attempts Nagma has not been able to make a mark in Bollywood. She has worked in a few Bollywood films including Chal Mere Bhai starring Karisma Kapoor, Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt that released way back in 2000. Since then, she hasn’t had much to do in the film industry. However, since her political career manages to keep her in news for both good and bad reasons, we would not be surprised if she lands up with a meaty role in the coming days. Till then wait and watch for the drama to unfold. The Bhojpuri star is contesting the Lok Sabha elections for Congress from Meerut.

Javed Jafri – The Boogie Woogie judge made his debut in 1985 with Meri Jung and the industry welcomed him with open arms. However, as time passed, Javed got stereotyped in a certain genre of film making and lost his hold in the industry. He tried his hand at television as well, however, only his dance reality show Boogie Woogie has clicked with the audience by far. So is his downfall in the industry a reason to join politics. Probably he is looking forward to show his moves even in the parliament. Though it would be interesting to see if Javed is welcomed here with open arms or is just told, Booooo! Wink, wink! The Bombay Boys actor is contesting elections from Lucknow for Aam Aadmi Party.
